You’re invited to a very special session of Muslim Widows Rise. We will be having a panel discussion with special guests Aqueela Khuddus and Asima Naseem who will share their stories of loss and resilience along with some strategies to cope with the loss of a loved one.
This session is open to the public and will be facilitated by our Grief Support Group leader Dr. Yasmeen Qadri and Amany Shalaby, MWO's Hakima & Chaplain

ABOUT OUR PANELISTS
Aqueela Khuddus is a mother of three, and grandmother of 11. She migrated to the US 53 years back. She is an Artist, a business women and a community worker. Her community work involves her serving in the past as a Board member and Chairperson of the American Heart Association, and the President and member of the Medical Auxiliary. She is presently a board member of Welcoming Gainesville & Alachua County, an organization which is chapter of the National organization Welcoming America. It’s purpose is to help make America and Gainesville harmonious and accepting towards immigrants, refugees, and visitors, welcoming neighborhoods. Her life long passion has been working with the community locally and globally to express love and support to people of all faiths, cultures and backgrounds through her humanitarian work. Over three decade back Aqueela Khuddus and her husband, Dr. S A Khuddus a Cardiologist established the Khadija Foundation in 1999. The foundation offers humanitarian needs and support with emphasis on education scholarships for the needy, working globally, as a crutch for the ones in need.
Asima Naseem has a Masters in Education, and lives in Bangalore, India. She has 3 children and 3 grand children. At the age of 50, by default she started walking and running as a hobby which led to hiking and trekking. She has done Valley of Flowers trek, Leh and Laddakh on a yoga retreat and recently to Everest Base. She loves river rafting and is a marathon runner, Asima is full of positive energy and inspiration. She went for Hajj in 2018 .and has started Arabic classes since April 2020. Her job has always been as a home maker. She lives together with her in-laws, as a 20 member joint family.
