Hakima Support Services

Amany Shalaby, a trained Chaplain, serves as our Hakima (wise woman or sage) and is available to help women with their spiritual and religious concerns, provide them with emotional support, and guide them to make better decisions. She can recommend rituals and practices to enhance people’s morale and provide solace. Amany can provide support for people going through hardships such as:

  • Coping with your or family member's chronic or terminal illness.

  • Having questions regarding end of life concerns.

  • Desiring to write one’s Advance Directives.

  • Grieving a loss.

  • Facing difficult decision-making.

  • Suffering a feeling of guilt, shame.

  • Seeking redemption.

  • Facing life crises.

  • Facing an identity or spiritual crisis.

  • Having conflicts with spouses, children, or parents, and wanting to know an Islamic perspective on the issue, or to find an Islamic based solution.

Spiritual counseling is not a substitute for psychological and medical help but plays a complementary role to both professions. Physicians care for the body, psychologists care for mental health and Chaplains answer questions pertaining to one’s faith and care for the individual’s spiritual wellness, and her relationship with God. All correspondence and visits remain strictly confidential.

You can also submit questions below through the contact form or email Amany at amany@mwo-orlando.org with any questions about the Hakima services. Schedule your consultation at: www.calendly.com/amany-3 or use the link below. If you would like to find a Hakima with your shared background, we also have trained Hakimas from South Asian, African American, Shi’a and Sunni backgrounds. Use the “Submit Your Questions” form to let Amany know your preferences and she can refer you to one of them.
