About Our GEMS Awards Honorees

Rasha Mubarak

Florida Palestine Network

Rasha Mubarak is an uncompromising advocate for justice, deeply committed to the fight against imperialism, settler colonialism, and the capitalist structures that perpetuate inequality and exploitation. She views the Palestinian struggle as a direct confrontation with these systems—an embodiment of the broader global fight for self-determination and liberation. Rasha understands that the dispossession of her people is not an isolated incident, but a result of a global system built on the extraction of resources, the displacement of populations, and the maintenance of power through violence and control.

For Rasha, the Palestinian cause is intrinsically linked to the struggles of all oppressed people, from the indigenous communities fighting settler colonialism across the world to working-class movements demanding economic justice. She recognizes that true liberation is not about reforming the systems of domination, but about disrupting these oppressive systems. This vision is grounded in the understanding that imperialism and settler colonialism are not just regional issues, but global structures of exploitation that demand international solidarity and action.

Her activism focuses on building coalitions across borders—uniting diverse movements for justice, equity, and dignity. By forging connections between the Palestinian struggle and other anti-imperialist, anti-colonial, and labor movements, Rasha works to create a united front that challenges the power of the elites and demands the redistribution of land, wealth, and power to the people. She emphasizes the necessity of collective action, recognizing that no liberation is possible without a coordinated, mass movement that refuses to accept the status quo.

Rasha Mubarak’s work is a testament to the power of grassroots organizing and coalition-building, driving forward a vision of revolutionary change rooted in solidarity, justice, and the collective will of the oppressed. Through her activism, she embodies the belief that freedom is not granted by those in power but must be seized by those who refuse to be silenced or controlled.
