About heARTwork
We carry so much in our hearts as women, as Muslims, as daughters, as mothers, as partners, and as friends. We are creating a space for you to connect with other Muslim women, and have conversations about our lives, our struggles, and our stories while working on creative projects as a form of expression and release.
Finding the Light
As women we often provide care to those around us, but who is caring for us in our dark times? We all experience hardship, sorrow, and loss, but often do not find spaces where we can share our grief and difficulties for fear of judgment, guilt, or shame. We hope you can join us and share about how you find light in moments of darkness, or any difficulties you experience in doing so. Together we will also unite our voices in the supplication our beloved Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, made in the mornings: ”Lord! I invoke You to create light in my heart, light in all parts of my body, light in my hearing, light in my sight, light in my hair, light in my complexion, light in my flesh, light in my blood, light in my bones, light before me, light behind me, light on my right, light on my left, light above me, light underneath me! Lord! I implore You to increase my light, to grant me light, and to create light for me.”
During our discussion, we will be making candles to take home and enjoy, or give to someone who brings light into our life. This is a beautiful way to unwind and create something beautiful and useful at the same time. No experience is required! We’ll have several tins, scents, and colors for you to choose from and give you some general guidance, but this is a chance for your creativity and personal preferences to shine.
REGISTRATION REQUIRED! Cost: $15/person (This helps us pay for supplies and food). For those who are facing financial challenges, you can reserve your spot for $5 and we will cover the cost of your supplies. REGISTER and/or DONATE to support this event here or by clicking below.
