GEMS Gala 2024: The Power of Us

  • Orlando Science Center (map)

GEMS Gala 2024

As 2024 comes to an end, we invite you to celebrate the powerful impact Muslim women make in our community with a night under the stars at MWO's GEMS Gala.  Through standing together we truly do grow stronger.  Strong enough to build our own compassionate and inclusive community, to protect one another from harm, and to speak our truth.  That is our collective power...THE POWER OF US.

The GEMS Gala is a FUNDRAISING EVENT.  This year, your support goes to sustain and expand our MWO HUB and the Sisterhood Programs housed there.  We have grown so much that we need a bigger space to accommodate our ever-growing community.  Your support will sustain the MWO’s programs dedicated to Community Building: The HUB, Sisterhood Programs, and Hakima Support Services.  You ensure that Muslim women do not feel alone and that there is a community for us…a space run by and for Muslim women and our daughters.  There is a lack of welcoming and safe spaces in our society, and YOU can ensure our community, unlike others, continues to have this unique asset.

So Genuinely Empowered Muslim Sisters (GEMS) and the MEN who stand by our side are invited to join us for this memorable evening because we need the support of everyone in our community to grow.  In addition to raising funds for and shining a light on MWO’s vital work,  we will also be honoring the women who continue to build power and community in Central Florida through our GEMS Awards.  Other event elements include:

  1. Fundraising. Opportunities to support the MWO’s HUB as well as Sisterhood and Community Building Programs (full breakdown below)

  2. Storytelling. Powerful stories from the women impacted by MWO.

  3. Explore Galleries.  The Orlando Science Center will have one exhibition open for all of our guests to explore from 6-7pm

  4. Vendor & Sponsor Tables. An opportunity for Muslim women entrepreneurs and sponsors to reach a new audience and attendees to find services and products.

  5. Entertainment. Live music and photo booth from 6-7pm

  6. Social Connection. With our ever-growing community this will be an opportunity to connect with one another at a fun night out!
