Women's Expo & Town Hall

  • Muslim Women's Organization Ocoee Lakeshore Center Ocoee United States (map)

The Muslim Women’s Safety Coalition invites you to our first-ever Women's Expo & Town Hall on Sunday, August 25th at 3 pm. The Muslim Women's Safety Coalition is a collaborative partnership of organizations dedicated to the safety and well-being of Muslim women in Central Florida. We are guided by the example of Khadijah Bint Khuwaylid, the “Mother of the Believers,” who not only believed and supported our beloved Prophet, peace be upon him, in his time of distress, but also ran a successful business. That is why we are continuing her legacy by caring for survivors and women in their time of need.

Khadijah (ra) was the ultimate Girl Boss, and we believe, like her, women play many vital roles in the community and their voices have immense value. Therefore, at this event, the Muslim women (and girls) of Central Florida will get a chance to:
* HAVE THEIR VOICES HEARD by local Muslim leaders
* SHOWCASE THEIR PRODUCTS and services
* SHOP TO SUPPORT women-owned small businesses
* CONNECT TO RESOURCES and organizations

This event and the Muslim Women's Safety Coalition are being implemented with the generous support of Islamic Relief USA and the City of Orlando, making it FREE to attend! We hope this will lead to:
(1) increased CONNECTION to local resources & services,
(2) increased AWARENESS about the needs of women,
(3) increased SUPPORT for women's businesses and organizations.

We can’t wait to shine a light on Khadijah’s legacy, and all of you, the amazing and powerful women of our community! RSVP and pay for babysitting ($5) using the link below:

Healing our Homeland x Muslim Women’s Safety Coalition: Hygiene Kits for Women in Gaza

When:

This campaign is for the Muslim Women's Safety Coalitions event: Khadijah’s Legacy: Expo and Town Hall on August 25, 2024, from 3 – 8pm at the Ocoee Lakeshore Center.

What:

100% of the funds from this campaign will go towards distributing hygiene kits to Palestinian women in the Gaza Strip.

During the event, we aim to mobilize our central Florida Muslim women community to raise funds to purchase essentials for women enduring genocide in Gaza.  Each kit, costing approximately $20-$30, will include items such as menstrual pads, wipes, prayer clothes, shampoo, soap, underwear, pain medicine, olive oil, slippers, and toilet paper. The exact contents may vary based on availability. Your contributions will provide crucial support to women in Gaza, who are facing severe shortages of basic necessities amidst ongoing colonial violence.

Why:

Currently, Gaza is enduring genocide: constant death, displacement, torture and destruction, along with a complete lack of essential services. There is no electricity, running water, food, employment, medical care, gas, or hygiene products. Disease is spreading rapidly, and if the bombs and bullets don’t claim more lives, starvation, illness, and injury has devastating effects. As Muslims, it is our duty to honor our covenant with Allah (SWT) by standing against oppression and injustice, supporting the disempowered, and upholding the values of compassion and solidarity and stand against all forms of oppression and injustice.

How:

We, as a collective of Muslim women in central Florida, will raise as much money as we can at the Khadijah’s Legacy Town Hall and Expo. The Healing our Homeland team in Gaza will purchase hygiene items and other women essentials from within the Gaza Strip. Our team will assemble the kits and distribute them to Palestinian women, with their dignity in mind. Once the distribution is complete, we will post an update on our social media with the details of how much was raised, what we purchased for the kits, and how many women we reached. Inshallah we will have pictures and/or videos to share too.

Who:

Healing our Homeland is a partner of the Muslim Women’s Safety Coalition. We joined the Coalition because it aligns with our values and vision of reviving the Muslim Ummah through compassionate community work and service for the sake of Allah. Our movement of liberation is led by Palestinian women and inspired by the Holy Quran and the thematic messages of justice, responsibility and beautiful ethics. Healing our Homeland is registered as a 501(c)(3) in the State of Florida and run by volunteers. Most of our US based volunteers reside in central Florida. If we want to bring on much needed change in our condition, we must begin with ourselves, our families and within each one of our respective communities.
